RESULTS.

Despite some challenging weather conditions, particularly for the 100M runners during the night, the situation improved, allowing everyone to fully enjoy the races and the Ultra Trail Village.

The races started in the heart of three iconic towns: Saugues, Monistrol-d’Allier, and Solignac-sur-Loire, each of which buzzed with trail-running excitement. Runners traversed the famous Santiago de Compostela path, moving counter to the legendary GR65 trail, encountering typical and historic routes through inspiring nature. Both elite and amateur runners completed their “spiritual quest,” finishing with a spectacular arrival at the foot of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cathedral of Le Puy-en-Velay, amid an incredible atmosphere.

ULTRA DU SAINT JACQUES 100M

The Ultra Trail, starting in Saugues, saw Frenchman Sylvain Court win with a time of 14h22’42”. The podium was completed by fellow Frenchmen Alexandre Beraud in 14h34’32” and Geoffroy Bonnet in 14h49’26”.

Among the women, French runner Maëlle Deruaz dominated with a finish in 17h25’17”, followed by Manon Gras in 17h55’11” and Dutch runner Hannah Derksen in 18h29’51”.

GRAND ULTRA DU SAINT JACQUES 100K

In the Grand Trail du Saint-Jacques, Frenchman Guillaume Tiphene finished first in 7h13’56’’, followed by Yoann Stuck in 7h41’25’’ and Morgan Pouliquen in 7h45’28’’.

Among women, Anais Dachet won with a time of 8h26’34’’, followed by Norwegian Anna Louise Astad Sørlie in 8h41’20’’ and Aurore Canino Hemon in 9h03’41’’.

Starting from Monistrol-d’Allier, known for its famous Eiffel metal bridge, which spans the tumultuous Allier, this demanding route immediately gets down to serious business up to the Rochegude peak.

From the Allier gorges to the Bouchet lake, from the Devès mountain to the Chibottes scree slopes, the runners of the Grand Trail du Saint-Jacques will take a rough course around the Santiago de Compostela path, before experiencing an exceptional finish after a last climb to the famous Notre-Dame du Puy-en-Velay cathedral, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

MARATRAIL 50K

The Maratrail saw a close competition among French men, with Remy Brassac taking first place in 4h10’07’’, followed by Aymeric Damour in 4h11’13” and Florian Bernabeu-Seguy in 4h11’48’’.

Remy Brassac (France – Maratrail – 50K – first place male): “Yes, yes, a big struggle. I think it was even one of the most… the biggest battles I’ve had in a race, and I didn’t have much time to admire the views, but it was still great to run with Aymeric, who had a great start and made it tough for us. It was a beautiful race, and I’m very pleased to finish first.”

Among women, Adeline Martin won with a time of 4h44’20”, followed by Elisa Ravet in 5h06’41” and Caroline Delord in 5h17’41”.

To note, a new starting site in the pretty village of Monistrol d’Allier, more prestigious and more practical. 2 km to stretch the peloton before climbing to the Chapelle de Rochegude. A new course slightly lengthened, tonic and varied, an excellent compromise.

In the final part, the ascent of the Mont Devès before heading to the Chibottes. A rugged course around the route of Santiago de Compostela, before an exceptional finish after a last climb to the famous Notre-Dame du Puy-en-Velay cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

LES CHIBOTTES 20K

Les Chibottes, starting on Saturday in Solignac-sur-Loire, crowned German runner Lukas Ehrle as the winner with a time of 1h03’48’’. Frenchman Sylvain Cachard took second place in 1h04’44’, followed closely by Alexandre Meyleu in 1h08’51’’.

Between women, the all-French podium saw Alice Gorry win in 1h28’39’’, followed by Marie Guillaume in 1h28’51’’ and Solène Bayle in 1h29’25”.

A brand new course in 2023 starting from the town of Solignac-sur-Loire located south of Puy-en-Velay. After a passage in Cussac-sur-Loire by the charming paths along the Loire, we will attack a beautiful 800 m bump with the ascent of the Boureyde.

Note the unusual passages in two former railway tunnels that have become greenways (Malpas tunnel and Riou tunnel). Something to cool down in case of strong heat like in 2022. At the exit of the second tunnel, there will be a new refreshment point before reaching Eycenac for an invigorating end with the Guard of Eycenac, the famous park of Chibottes, before living an exceptional arrival after a last climb towards the famous cathedral Notre-Dame du Puy-en-Velay, classified in the world heritage of the UNESCO.
