The Records Division maintains all reports, incidents, and citations initiated by the Amador County Sheriff’s Office, in addition to maintaining records of all bookings from the Amador County Jail. Except where otherwise noted, we will charge for public records request, excluding records requested by a victim.

Records Request Form

You may request a copy of a report or incident maintained by the Amador County ​​Sheriff’s Office. Please fill out the records request form and return it ​​​to the Sheriff’s Office. The request form is also available at the Sheriff’s Office ​​​during regular business hours, Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. We will ​​respond to your request within 10 working days (Pursuant to Government Code ​​​§6253(c)).​

The Records Division stores original reports for the Amador County Sheriff’s ​​​Office, as well as reports generated by the Amador County Combined Narcotic ​​​Enforcement Team (ACCNET).

​The Records Division is responsible for the confidentiality of certain information ​​​pursuant to codes and statutes, including Government Code §6254(f) and Penal ​​​Code §293. Records is also responsible for the dissemination of criminal reports ​​​in and out of the Sheriff’s Office.​

Records personnel are mandated by law to assist the public in their search for ​​​information. The Records Division makes copies of criminal reports for the ​​​public, and victims of crimes with their names redacted (Blacked out) from the ​​​report to protect identity information as required by law. The Public Records Act ​​​dictates that we must make available to the public the following information:

  • TIME/LOCATION/SUBSTANCE OF COMPLAINT/REQUEST FOR SERVICE

  • TIME/NATURE OF RESPONSE

  • TIME/DATE/LOCATION OF OCCURRENCE

  • TIME/DATE OF REPORT

  • NAME/AGE OF VICTIM (EXCEPT AS EXEMPTED)

  • FACTUAL CIRc*msTANCES

​Additionally, the Public Records Act dictates that we must make available copies ​​​of criminal reports to victims of certain types of crimes, redacting any information ​​which the law declares they are not entitled to.​

Records will not release reports involving juveniles without a court order or ​​​pursuant to the standing orders of the Amador County Superior Court.

A Daily Media Bulletin is completed each morning (Monday – Thursday), as ​​​mandated by the Public Records Act, and is available at the public counter for ​​​review.

REQUEST BOOKING/RELEASE INFORMATION

The Records Division also stores original booking and release documents from the Amador County Sheriff’s Detention Facility. These records may also be requested with a records request form here and we will respond within ten working days (Per Government Code Section 6253(c)).

Live Scans will be completed Mondays and Wednesdays. Sign ups begin at 12:30pm at the Sheriff's Office. A maximum of 12 live scans will be completed each day.

CHARACTER LETTER

Character Letter Form

​A Character Letter is a local criminal history check of your history for any arrest ​​​(We release only Amador County Sheriff’s Office arrest information). You will ​​​need to complete the form here, available online or at the Amador County ​​​​Sheriff’s Office. Bring the form with you, have a valid ID, pay the fee and you ​​​will be ​notified when the letter is available for pick-up unless you have requested ​​​to have it mailed to you.

LOCAL CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK

​Subjects may request a copy of their local criminal history (Amador County ​​​Sheriff’s Office arrest information only). You will be required to come to the ​​​Sheriff’s Office in person with the completed form here and show valid ​​​​identification before the request will be processed. The request may take up to ​​​ten working days to process.
