After a successful Spring 2024 semester, the KSU Student Managed Investment Fund would like to thank former CEO Luke Aumer and former CIO Brandon Goff for their guidance and support during the Spring term, as well as offer our sincerest congratulations on graduation. We are delighted to begin the Fall 2024 semester under the leadership of:CEO John Longshore, a Senior at Kennesaw State pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. John was a part of the 2023 CFA Ethics Challenge Team and part of the winning 2024 CFA Society Southern Classic Research Challenge team. John interns with 28th Street Ventures, a global investment firm in Atlanta. After graduation, John hopes to pursue a career in alternative investments.CIO Duc Tri,a Senior at Kennesaw State University actively pursuing a BBA in Finance. He joined SMIF in January of 2022 as a Junior Analyst, being promoted to Managing Director in August of 2023, then Chief Investment Officer for Fall of 2024. Upon graduation, Duc hopes to pursue a career in investment management in the United States for a number of years before taking up a permanent position in the APEC region.COO Katty Hernandez, a Senior at Kennesaw State University, double-majoring in Finance and Accounting.Katty competed in the 2022 CFA Ethics Challenge and was a part of the KSU SMIF 2024 CFA Research Challenge team, that won the Southern Classic regional title. Katty secured internships with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in their Investment Department and with The Coca-Cola Company in the North America FP&A division. Upon graduation, she aims to pursue opportunities focused on valuation analysis, transaction advisory, credit, M&A and possibly consulting. CE Cody Pacheco, a Senior at Kennesaw State University pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with a minor in Economics. He has been an active member of SMIF since August 2023. Cody currently serves as the Chief Economist as well as the Managing Director of the Fixed Income sector. For the last three years Cody has worked full time as an analyst for the Moorings Group LLC, who specializes in Fixed Income portfolio management. Upon graduation Cody plans to continue working in Fixed Income. Director of Human Resources and VP of Marketing Hannah Hunt,a Senior pursuing a BBA in Finance at Kennesaw State University. She has been an active member of SMIF since January of 2023. Hannah currently serves as Director of Human Resources, VP of Marketing, as well as an Associate Director. She has had 2 internships with JPMorgan Chase as well as 1 with Alpha Creek Accounting. Upon graduation, Hannah has accepted an offer to return to JPMorgan Chase as a full-time Commercial Banking Analyst.This management team is elated to contribute to the advancements of the fund and anticipates a prosperous, rewarding Fall term. We are looking forward to another successful semester of learning and achievement!

KSU SMIF Spring 2024 Equity PitchMembers of KSU SMIF presented their Spring 2024 Equity Pitches on Thursday, April 18th to a packed house. Senior and Junior Analysts pitched a Buy recommendation on Intercontinental Exchange, American Tower, Waste Management, Sprouts, Amazon, Barrick, and Eli Lilly. Wonderful job by all the analysts as well as their MDs and ADs--a great finish to this semester of KSU SMIF. We'd also like to congratulate our Outstanding Analysts of the Semester Conor Cummins, Junior Analyst and Lukas Ollivier, Senior Analyst. We can't wait to continue showcasing the talent within KSU SMIF next semester!Thank you and congratulations to our graduating seniors Luke Aumer, Brandon Goff, Conor Cummins, William McKay, Brock Mattison, and James Rohrer on all your hard work at the fund. Spring 2024 Career Conversations with KSU SMIF Alumni.We were delighted to hear from KSU SMIF alumni panel of Sarah Prochaska Groves, John Foster, Luis Trujillo Jr., Joshua Leak and Chandler Geiger at our Spring 2024 Career Conversations with KSU SMIF Alumni. Beginning with a few leading questions by moderator Luke Aumer and followed by an active Q&A with our members, with key takeaways including the importance of persistence and continuous learning, seeking assistance in learning from SMIF peers, seniors, and alumni, analysis-based story telling skills, and importance of advance preparation in networking.The crowd of analysts surrounding the panelists, well after the event formally ended, was a testament to the value of their insights.The success of our alumni and their passionate engagement has been a key to the growth and success of KSU SMIF. KSU SMIF at Quinnipiac GAME Forum XIII 2024A team of 10 Students led by our CEOLuke Aumerand CIOBrandon Gofffrom the KSU SMIF recently traveled to NYC for the Qunnipiac Game Forum. In addition to attending the 2 day conference with renowned keynote speakers such as Lisa Abramovicz and SMIF students from around the world, we were also strong contenders in the Portfolio competition and while we did not place this year we received valuable input on our portfolio. Our students also enjoyed a walking tour of Wall Street and an excellent tour and visit of the NASDAQ headquarters (hosted by our own alumniAmitai Ilan). We had the distinct pleasure of a very engaging Career Conversation with Greg Michaud, MD and Head of Real Estate Finance at VOYA at KSU Student Managed Investment Fund (KSU SMIF) on March 8th at 6:30 pm. His insights on a wide range of topics--from AI to commercial/residential real estate to adapting and thinking five years ahead on career--were very useful to the eager audience. As you could tell from the crowd around him, we were enthralled by his career narrative and in no small measure due to his engaging style of conversation. Our sincere thanks to Greg for taking time from his busy schedule to speak with and staying well beyond the scheduled ending time to interact with us and help mold the next generation of leaders in the industry.
