What is the "Vehicle History" service and who can use it?
"Vehicle History" is a service provided by the Ministry of Digitization for anyone planning to buy a used car, motorcycle or other vehicle registered in Poland. Data received through this service can help in assessing the technical condition of the vehicle and confirming the credibility of the seller’s offer. Received report you can easily save and print. You get information about the vehicle completely free of charge.
What can you find out?
The service displays the information collected since the first registration of the vehicle in Poland. It lets you check, among others:
technical data such as capacity and engine power or fuel type,
dates of periodic technical inspections that the vehicle has undergone, in including the test result and information whether it has a current test,
information about additional technical tests,
odometer reading recorded during technical tests (Note: the Central Vehicle Register gathers information about the odometer reading from 2014),
odometer reading (s) recorded during a road check,
information on the replacement of the odometer along with its / their reading after the replacement (Note: in the Central Register of Vehicles, information about the replacement of the odometer has been accumulated since 2020),
information whether he has valid compulsory liability insurance,
information about material damage (Note: in the Central Register of Vehicles, data on material damage accumulates from March 1, 2020),
the number of owners and co-owners and registration region,
whether the vehicle is not currently marked as stolen in the database or has information about finding the vehicle or searching finished,
information on the date of sale of the vehicle,
information whether the vehicle was owned by a company / organization or a private person,
information whether the vehicle has been temporarily decommissioned and put into service again after temporary withdrawal.
How to get the data?
Just enter three details:
vehicle registration number,
date of first registration of the vehicle,
VIN number - this is a unique vehicle number that is issued and placed on the vehicle by the manufacturer.
The above data can be found, among others in the registration certificate and vehicle card. They can be obtained from the owner or seller.
Where does the data come from?
The data comes from Central Vehicle Register. This is a register kept by the Minister of the Interior on the basis of the provisions of the Road Traffic Act.
Data for the Records have been transferred since 2004 by several thousand entities independent of the Minister of the Interior, using various ICT tools, which in some cases may cause data inconsistencies. Work on removing possible inconsistencies of data contained in CEPiK is the subject of the CEPiK 2.0 and ultimately they are to lead to their significant reduction.
The information received as part of the report should not be the only criterion for purchasing a vehicle, but it can significantly help the buyer in assessing the offer.
The information presented in the "Foreign data" section comes from external systems and is based on data obtained by these systems from the USA, Canada and some European countries.
CARFAX acquires data from 22 European countries, including Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the UK, Central and Eastern European countries, and the US and Canada.
AutoDNA acquires data, among others from Germany, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Norway, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Denmark.
CarVertical acquires data including from Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, New Zealand, Canada.
Other information about this vehicle, including the risks identified in other countries may not be included in this report.
